HONOLD'S ORNAMENTAL IRONWORK
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to order a custom gate?
Our lead time is about 4-8 weeks, depending on the season. If you have
a pressing deadline, we can usually adjust the schedule.
When you send the gate, what do I get?
You get a complete kit to make the installation a success. We'll send all
the hardware, hinges and clasps will be pre-aligned and installation
instructions will be included.
How and when do I pay?
You can pay for your gate with credit card, cash or personal check. 50%
is due when we take your order and 50% when the gate is complete and
we're ready to ship it to you.
Do you have a showroom?
Yes, our custom gates are showcased within Home & Garden Art, our
sister company. The address is 1111 NW 85th Street.
What are your hours at the showroom?
We're open 10-6 Monday - Saturday and 11-5 on Sunday.
Why should we choose wrought iron?
Throughout history, wrought iron has been the material of choice in the
design and construction of traditional gates. The rigidity that steel offers,
when combined with proper design and coatings, will last many lifetimes.
What are my color choices?
We use a professional powder coating company that has a wide variety of
colors to choose from. Your gate package will include an aerosol can of
matching touch up paint provided by the powder coater. This is helpful if
the gate gets scratched accidentally during installation.
What if my open space is bigger than the width of the gate I've
selected?
No problem! We can fabricate iron panels that match the design of your
gate. It'll look fabulous.
What is your warranty policy?
We desire your complete satisfaction with our products. All gates are
guaranteed to be free from defective materials and/or workmanship.
What is your return policy?
In the event you're not satisfied--please call us! We'll issue a return form
to fill out and ask for photographs as well. If there is a fabrication defect,
we'll ask you to send the gate back and issue a refund. However, we
cannot issue refunds to customers who have incorrectly measured for
their gate or for dissatisfaction with a particular finish.
What if my gate is damaged in shipping?
It is imperative that you inspect your gate when it is delivered. Any
damage incurred during shipping is the responsibility of the carrier and a
claim must be filed immediately.
Will my gate rust?
What is your warranty on powder coated finishes?
We use the best quality, heavy gauge steel available but your gate is
rust-resistant, not rust-proof. No different than your automobile, if the
finish is scratched or not entirely coated, rust will appear over time.
However, it is not difficult to remedy this situation.
We have found that in tight scroll work or close metals, it's difficult to coat
the entire surface. We recommend spraying suspect areas every 6
months with a clear corrosion inhibitor, which is available in most hardware
and home improvement stores.
We cannot accept returns due to dissatisfaction with a color or finish. The
actual gate finish will meet or exceed industry standards and is provided
by a professional powder coating company in the Seattle area.
Any problems arising from the powder coating finish would need to be
taken up with the powder coating company. If you'd rather, we can ship
the gate bare metal and you can have the gate finished locally.
